Why not just use a spreadsheet?
Most manufacturers start in a spreadsheet. It works, until the day it breaks; a formula, a column gets deleted, someone opens the wrong version, and the one file your whole operation depends on stops being trustworthy. By then you've usually outgrown it anyway: no real view of cost, no warning before you run out, no way to tell what a batch actually cost you to make.
Verso was built by makers who lived this. Not a team that studied manufacturing from the outside, but people who ran out of a component mid-build and had no idea until it was too late.
